Account Executive - Slack-4

Account Executive, Slack — State Government (National)

Salesforce | Government & Public Sector

About the Role

We're looking for a driven, mission-oriented Account Executive to grow Slack's footprint across state government agencies nationwide. In this role, you'll own a national portfolio of state accounts, driving new logo acquisition and expanding existing relationships across agencies spanning all 50 states — from Departments of Finance & Administration and HHS to DOT, Labor, Treasury, and beyond. You'll work at the intersection of enterprise software and public sector transformation — helping agencies modernize how they work with AI-powered communication and collaboration.

What You'll Do

Own and grow a national state government territory, managing a mix of net new and expansion opportunities from prospecting through close

Build and execute multi-stakeholder account plans that align Slack Enterprise+ solutions to agency missions and budget cycles

Travel nationally (~50% of the time) to engage agency leadership, attend key state government events, and deepen executive relationships on the ground

Partner closely with Core AEs, SEs, and solution teams to develop territory strategy and integrated Salesforce + Slack plays

Navigate state procurement processes, contract vehicles (e.g., Carahsoft, NASPO), and compliance requirements including FedRAMP, CJIS, and Government Cloud

Develop and maintain executive relationships across CIOs, agency directors, and IT leadership

Accurately forecast pipeline and deliver against quarterly and annual quota targets

Collaborate with field marketing to activate state government summits, NGA events, NASCIO, and executive briefings

What We're Looking For

5+ years of enterprise SaaS sales experience with state or local government customers

Demonstrated ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder procurement cycles across multiple states

Familiarity with government compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, CJIS, GovCloud) a strong plus

Experience selling collaboration, productivity, or platform solutions preferred

Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% nationally

Strong executive presence and ability to build trust with both technical and non-technical decision-makers

Self-starter who thrives in a matrixed environment and can lead cross-functional deal teams

Consistent track record of meeting or exceeding quota

Why This Role

State agencies nationwide are under pressure to modernize operations, enable hybrid workforces, and deliver citizen services faster. Slack is uniquely positioned to power that transformation — and you'll be the one driving it coast to coast. You'll work alongside a high-performing team, backed by the full Salesforce platform, with real opportunity to build a career in the fast-growing public sector market.
