Department Summary

EchoStar has an exciting opportunity in our Hughes Network Systems division for a Director - Aviation Program Manager. This role will lead aviation programs through development, launch, and service delivery. This position will work with cross-functional teams to deliver and manage major accounts, drive growth across the aviation business, and support Hughes’ customers throughout the contract lifecycle. This position will be located at our headquarters in Germantown, MD.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage overall relationship with airline customers, airframe manufacturers, and major accounts throughout the contract lifecycle
  • Build customer intimacy and deliver flawless customer service by maintaining crisp communication, driving issue resolution, and conducting regular check-ins
  • Be the customer champion, and ensure all customer requirements are captured and managed within the scope of internal and third-party supplier teams
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to establish best practices within the organization
  • Lead program review meetings, coordination meetings, and workshops with customers, airframe manufacturers, and partners
  • Work with the supply chain to ensure smooth, on-time production deliveries to customers
  • Work with MROs and customer organizations to ensure smooth installation of delivered products
  • Ensure Hughes delivers against all committed SLAs; work with quality, engineering, supplier organizations and customer stakeholders to oversee solution performance and reliability
  • Participate in regular status reviews with Hughes senior management and customers to ensure successful implementation and timely resolution of service issues
Skills, Experience and Requirements

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related discipline
  • 12+ years of related work experience
  • Prior experience working at an in-flight entertainment or in-flight connectivity services provider
  • This position requires occasional travel up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of all phases of the aviation product lifecycle, including design, development, testing, certification, production, maintenance and support
  • Experience working with the FAA or other aerospace regulatory bodies is a plus
  • Ability to influence a variety of stakeholders to establish concurrence
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills combined with the ability to effectively interact with different levels of the customer and internal organization
  • Ability to synthesize multiple requirements and create smart, cogent solutions to complex problems

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $127,500.00/OTP - $170,000.00/OTP

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
